What are Reciprocal Links?
A reciprocal link is a mutual agreement between two webmasters to provide a link within their own website of each other’s content. Generally, it is used to increase the traffic of the website in two ways. First, you will receive a customer visited your website directly by clicking on that reciprocal link. Secondly, most search engines also take into account the number of websites or domains which contain a link to your website. The more referring domain you find of the website, more the chances the website is on the top of the rankings.
Google’s Intention –
The concept of reciprocal links defies Google’s original intention. It is also a common phrase that content is a king. In case if the website has a quality content then it will definitely attract customers and links. Although, the exchange of links is nothing more than a mutual agreement. It is used to promote other content with the main motive of promoting their own. But Google does not like this.
Furthermore, some even claim that Google is now able to identify three-way linking schemes. Whether it is true or not, it is difficult to say. But one thing is for sure, as offering Digital Marketing Course to the students, we PIIM – (Punjab Institute of Internet Marketing) suggests that inbound linking strategies should not be centered around reciprocal linking. This manufactured form of link creation is not well-received and it is ultimately a wastage of time. So, we would suggest you create quality content because content matters a lot. Instead of creating quality and relevant content if you focus on links, that will not help you out.
